In the middle of a press release dated Feb 4, Autodesk shyly announced a new software product called DWF Composer.
"Autodesk DWF Writer will be a key component of Autodesk DWF Composer, enabling users to composite multiple file types into a single DWF file, further facilitating the exchange and archiving of drawing sets." - http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040203/sftu020_1.html
(DWF Writer is like a printer driver, in that it allows you to create DWF file from any Windows software. It has been available for quite some time as beta from the Revit Web site, but now is officially released. You can download the 5MB file, after registration, from here.)
DWF Composer sounds to me like an Acrobat killer, because it combines any kind of document -- even from word processors and spreadsheets. I'll be interested in testing and comparing the quality of the output against PDF, because DWF (design Web format) was designed to handle vector output from CAD drawings.
