Five days and counting.
Life without high-speed, always-on Internet is like living with half a brain. Reduced to dial-up, I can no longer Google with ease, or enjoy downloads of large files at CD-like speed.
My DSL modem, rented from Telus -- the local telephone monopoly -- stopped connecting on Saturday. After 3/4-hour on hold, tech support had me try everything I had already tried. Tier 2 tech support would call me back.
Sunday, Tier 2 called back, saying that a repairman would come by soon. If no one shows up by Tuesday, call us back.
Wednesday, I tried calling back, first waiting 1/2 hour, and then waiting 1/3 hour. When I got through, I was told the soonest date for the repairman was January 21. No wonder the CRTC (the Canadian regulatory agency that handles telephone companies) has received tons of complaints about Telus.
