It's common for CAD vendors to host events to show their software to potential purchasers. I've attended a couple of 'em, such as one with Graphisoft in Vancouver, and another with Bentley Systems in Seattle. These events are free, and there are usually goodies and give-aways to further entice attendence.
Today comes news that Alibre is running an event, but is charging US$169-$199 for for the half-day session. The event is meant to introduce 3D design to those who are not Alibre customers. For your tax-deductable expenditure, you get:
* Coffee and bagel.
* 3.5 hours of introduction to sketching, part design, assembly design, and 2D drawing creation with Alibre Design.
* Alibre training CD.
Add to the cost:
* Travel to and parking in downtown.
* Loss of a half-day of work.
* No refund if you can't make it.
* No mention of a $169 discount when purchasing Alibre.
Would you attend a for-fee event of this nature?
