New best-friends-forever SpaceClaim and Bricsys are joining forces in a SolidWorks/Cadopia-like arrangement.
In SolidWorks, the DWG editor
is was a standalone version of IntelliCAD provided by Cadopia, and rebranded as DWGeditor -- one of the names over which Autodesk is having a temper tantrum.
Announced informally earlier today by Bricsys ceo Eric de Keyser, his company now has a similar arrangement with SpaceClaim. For US$1,995, you get the software bundle. Europeans, as is so often the case, get hosed into paying 30% more -- e1,995.
The point is that you use Bricscad to tweak DWG drawings outside of SpaceClaim.
Was it just a coincidence that this announcement was made during the ITC conference? Brisys is one of the largest and most successful IntelliCAD developers, and so is conspicuous by its absence.
